Marcel Lee is a commercial photographer based in Melbourne. He discovered his passion for photography whilst on a solo trip to ViƱa del Mar as part of an ongoing exploration of his Chilean-Australian identity. Lee studied photography at the Australian Centre of Photography (ACP) whilst completing a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Sydney and received his Bachelor of Science (Scientific Photography) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
Lee has been exhibiting his work since 2004 and has co-curated exhibitions in both Sydney and Melbourne, including the University of Sydney Arts Festival. In 2007 Lee won 'Best Landscape Work' in Australia's largest open entry exhibition and competition, the Kodak Salon, held at the Contemporary Centre for Photography (CCP). In the same year, he was runner-up in the 'Science, Medical and Nature' category in the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), Victorian Student of the Year Awards.
This year, in association with Federation Square, his series of images titled 'Stuffed' will be exhibited around the world, as part of the 2007 Australian Graduate Show. He has also received Silver Awards in both the 'Non-Composite Landscape' and the 'Science, Environment and Nature' categories, which are awarded in recognition of photographic excellence from the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) at the Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards.
